UNDERSTANDING THE APPROACH
What is somatic coaching?
Sessions may draw on:
"All the answers you need are already within you. My work is simply to help you find them."
— Breath — learning to use your breath as an anchor and a tool
— Nervous system regulation — understanding and calming your stress response
The word somatic comes from the Greek soma — meaning the body as experienced from within. Somatic coaching works from a simple but profound truth: that stress, fear, doubt and the pressures of modern life don't just live in our minds. They live in our bodies — in tight shoulders, shallow breath, a nervous stomach, or a persistent sense of being switched off from ourselves.
Rachael's work is about helping you reconnect with your own inner resources — your wisdom, your calm, your sense of self. Not by telling you what to do, but by supporting you to discover what's already there, underneath the noise.
She believes every person is already whole and resourceful. It's the accumulation of stress and modern life's demands that can cause us to feel disconnected or blocked. These sessions create the conditions for you to find your way back.
— Body awareness — bringing gentle attention to what your body is telling you
— Sound & movement — releasing held tension through voice and movement
— Grounding & presence — slowing down and finding steadiness
— Self-regulating touch — simple practices to soothe your own system
— Compassionate listening & inquiry — being truly heard without judgement
— Compassionate Communication — learning to express and understand needs more clearly
— Consent & boundary awareness — knowing and communicating what you do and don't want
— Meditation & mindfulness — creating inner quiet and clarity
— Creative expression — using voice, body and imagination to process and release

WHAT TO EXPECT
What happens in a session?
Every session is different — because you are different from one week to the next. But here's a gentle sense of how a session typically flows:

Reflection & take-aways
Landing together
We begin with a short grounding practice — a few breaths, a gentle body scan, maybe some simple movement like shaking out the day or light self-tapping — to help you arrive fully and leave the outside world at the door.
Check in & explore
We talk about what you'd like to explore in this session. There's no agenda. You lead. Rachael listens deeply and together you decide how you want to work — whether that's talking things through, a somatic practice, exploring a feeling in the body, or something else entirely.
Co-created work
Everything is always your choice. Rachael might offer compassionate listening, intuitive reflection, brainstorming, nervous system practices, communication tools, or gentle body-focused exploration — but you are always in charge of what happens and at what pace. Safety and comfort come first, always.
Integration & stillness
After the main work, we pause. Two to three minutes of quiet stillness — a moment for your nervous system to settle, absorb and integrate whatever you've explored. This small pause makes a big difference to lasting change.
We close with a brief reflection — what did you notice? What did you learn about yourself? And what small, gentle thing might you carry with you until next time? It might be as simple as taking one breath before reacting, or a moment each morning to check in with how you feel. You decide what, if anything, feels right.
Sessions take place in person or online via Zoom — both are equally warm and effective. You choose what works best for you.

WHO YOU'LL BE WORKING WITH
Meet Rachael Nitya
Rachael is Jollytots' Wellbeing Lead — and someone with a deep, personal connection to this community. Having spent time at Jollytots across different chapters of her life, from working as an assistant in her teens to bringing theatre, dance and circus workshops to the nursery in her twenties and thirties, she now returns with a new offering — one rooted in years of professional training and a genuine passion for helping people feel fully alive.
Her background spans theatre, circus, movement, yoga, meditation and holistic somatic coaching. She holds a BA and Masters in Performance Studies, is a 500-hour certified yoga teacher, and has spent the past six years coaching individuals and running workshops focused on wellness, creativity and the wholeness of the human being.
Her core belief is simple: you are already whole. Everything you need is within you. Her work is about helping you remember that — and find practical, embodied ways to live from that place more of the time.
— Certified Somatic Coach — 6 years practice
— BA in Drama & Masters in Performance Studies
— 500-hour certified yoga teacher
— 30 years yoga & meditation practice
— Experienced in NVC (Non-Violent/ Compassionate Communication) & parts work
— 20+ years teaching & performing in circus & theatre
— Musician, performer, Carrickfergus local
Outside of work, Rachael loves long walks in forests and by the sea, playing piano and guitar, singing, and spending time in the sun — in the Algarve, Thailand and beyond. She's a contemporary clown, a hula-hooping mermaid (yes, really), and a proud Carrickfergus girl currently putting down roots back home. She shares her life with Ziggy, a 15-year-old cat named after David Bowie.

Yes — sessions are per parent, not per family. Both parents or carers in a household are welcome to book their own independent six sessions.
BEFORE YOU BOOK
Your questions answered honestly
A note from Rachael: Jollytots was founded by my parents, who are still its directors today. This is a family business, and I grew up with this nursery and the families that make it up, and that's exactly why I take your privacy so seriously. Nothing you share with me will ever reach anyone else including my family, the management team, or anyone at Jollytots. Your sessions are yours alone, completely confidential. I give you my personal and professional word on that.
💚
Is it really free?
Yes — genuinely, completely free. No hidden costs, no catch. Jollytots funds this as part of its commitment to the wellbeing of every family in its community.
✨
What if I want more than six sessions?
The six free sessions are Jollytots' gift to you. If you'd like to continue beyond that, Rachael offers ongoing coaching privately — she'll talk you through options at any point.
🌿
Do I have to be strugging?
Not at all. You don't need to be in crisis to benefit. These sessions are for any parent who wants more ease, more presence, or simply more space for themselves. No issue too big, no challenge too small.
💬
What if it's not for me?
That's completely fine. There's no obligation after the first session or at any point. You're always in charge of what happens and whether you continue.

COMMON QUESTIONS
Is this the same as therapy or counselling?
No — coaching is different from therapy. Rachael's work is forward-focused and body-based. It isn't about diagnosing or treating mental health conditions. It's about helping you find your own resources, regulate your nervous system, and feel more like yourself. If you're experiencing something that needs clinical support, Rachael will always say so honestly and help point you in the right direction.
How do I book?
Simply send an email to rachaelnitya@gmail.com — just say you'd like to book a discovery call and Rachael will reply personally. The discovery call is free, relaxed and completely without pressure. It's just a conversation to see if it feels like the right fit.
Are sessions in person or online?
Both — you choose. Sessions can take place in person or via Zoom. Both formats are equally warm and effective. If you'd like to meet in person, Rachael will discuss location options with you on the discovery call.
What if I'm nervous or not sure it's for me?
That's completely normal — and actually a good sign that something in you is ready to explore. The discovery call is exactly for this. There's no commitment required, and you're never obliged to continue after any session. You're always in charge.
Will Jollytots know I've booked?
No. Your sessions are entirely private. Rachael does not share any information about who has booked, what is discussed, or anything else with Jollytots management or staff. Your privacy is fully protected.
